Listening: The Healing Power of Human Presence

The greatest gift we can give another human being is the gift of our attention. This is especially important when we are accompanying someone who is dying or grieving the loss of a loved one. Listening is a way of healing. When we listen in a devout way we bring forth the truth from the other. Non-judgmental listening allows us to access parts of ourselves that were somehow unavailable in the past. This facilitates the journey through dying and grief and can lead us to a profound understanding that reaches beyond our individual loss. It can open us to the most essential truths of our lives: the truth of impermanence, the causes of suffering, and the illusion of separateness.

This workshop focuses on the cultivation of deep listening as a way to heal and enhance our capacity to be present with self, other, a group or community. Frank introduces multiple listening practices, council forms, and the practice of "Three Center Listening". The technique engages mind, heart and body in the cultivation of clarity, compassion and intuition. The workshop will include lecture, discussion and experiential exercises.

The program may be of special interest to healthcare professionals or those accompanying those with severe illness or dealing with significant loss.
