THE PATH OF SERVICE
A Workshop with Frank Ostaseski

Life calls us all to service. All life intimately connected and interdependent. Our thoughts, feelings and actions, effect everything else in that network. The impulse to serve emerges naturally and inevitably from this way of seeing. We come to see service as a way of nurturing ourselves as we care for others and discover that at its heart, true service is mutually beneficial.

When we care for a dying parent, volunteer in our community or support a social justice or political movement we enter the path of service. Practiced with awareness, it can be a path of inner development. Obstacles on this path include self-consciousness, attachment to roles or identities, fixed beliefs or doubts, distancing from suffering, isolation, and confusion about what really helps. Habitual ways of thinking and behaving that foster separateness and hinder our capacity to serve.

In this workshop Frank will explore the relationship of true service, the wounded healer, our capacity to compassionately embrace suffering and ways to nourish oneself through the act of service. The program will include lecture, discussion, experiential exercises, mindfulness practice, practical skill-building.

The workshop may of particular interest to caregivers or those actively engaged in various dimensions of service in their communities.

There are currently no dates scheduled for this workshop.
