TRANSFORMING AS WE DIE

Dying is at its heart a sacred act, a time, a space and a process of surrender and transformation. The encounter with death is so profound that it can loosen our identification with a habituated separate sense of self, encourage wholeness, and open a path to the sacred. This transformative potential exists for the dying person, their family/friends, and even the companioning healthcare professionals.

In this workshop we will explore the profound psycho-spiritual transformations that frequently occur at the edge of life and death. Frank will present his observations on the similarities between spiritual practices and the experience of dying, ways of supporting the process of psycho-spiritual transformation that occurs at death and provide a model for accompany those in non-ordinary state of awareness.

Frank will also draw on 30 years at the bedside of over 1000 patients to illuminate the place of dying on the spiritual journey. He will discuss the relevance that the lessons learned near death have for all of us in living a more loving and compassionate life.

This workshop will feature lecture, discussion, experiential exercises, inquiry and mindfulness practice. It may be of particular interest to those facing life threatening illness and the professionals and caregivers who accompany those at the end of life.

There are currently no dates scheduled for this workshop.
